Darlings revolve around the Mumbai couple Badrunissa (Alia) and Hamza (Vijay), who pretend to be madly in love and hide the reality of their relationship behind closed doors. Badrunissa is a victim of domestic violence at the hands of her husband Hamza, who soon goes missing. Badrunissa and her mother (Shefali) come under the radar as the prime suspects, as they seem to have kidnapped or murdered Hamza out of revenge.

Alia Bhatt and Shefali Shah play the part of a son-mama brace who do not mind using the people around them as pawns. They try to manipulate the police and many wonders if they are criminals. From witty to quirky, Alia and Shefali are expected to put on a stellar performance.
