Movie Review / Story

Siddhu is a family man living in Hyderabad who comes across a website where you can meet your lookalikes through your friend. He reaches out to two of his lookalikes, Manju from Bangalore and Michael from Kolkata. All three of them meet and have a lot of fun. At first, everything seems fun and easy, but soon, things take a turn for the worst when one of our lookalikes turns out to be evil. This puts the other two at risk. The rest of the story builds on what problems the other two are facing and how they come out of them.

Siddharth (Kalyan Ram) living in Hyderabad is fascinated by the concept of doppelgangers. He keeps looking for people like him, and surprisingly finds not one but two of them (Manjunath Hegde and Michael). Soon all three meet and Siddharth takes the help of the other two to make Ishika (Aashika Ranganath) fall in love with him. When all is going well, Siddharth and Manjunath get an unfamiliar look at Michael, which surprises them. Who is this Michael? What’s his backstory? What did Siddharth and Manjunath do after they came to know about Michael? The film has the answers.

The first half of the film is spent building cute situations between Ishika and Sidhu and includes unnecessary scenes involving families, Ishika’s job as an RJ and so on. There is no chemistry between Ishika and Sidhu and their romance is ambiguous. The film has some life only when Manju and Michael enter, but then clumsy scenes and dialogues sprinkle liberally, killing the pace. Take this for example – a hardened criminal who doesn’t think twice about killing people is shown as spending a lot of time helping a man ‘rape’ his girlfriend. Really liked it. Overall, Amigos has a different concept and a fresh approach to the triple-role hero. Apart from a few twists, it completely fails to enthral.
